Real and believeable characters for events and re-creations

Live Interpretation

I've been working as a 'Live Interpreter' for over a decade.

Live Interpreters are not only in historical costume, but also in character. We love engaging with visitors and chatting about life, strife, love, or anything else and we do it all as the character of the person we're dressed as.

Live Interpreters combine historical facts with improvisational acting skills to help our audience make vivid connections between past and present.

My most popular characters for Live Interpretation events are 'Queen Elizabeth 1st' and 'Moaning Martha' the grumbling Victorian Workhouse Inmate.

I can research or create a special character to suit your venue, too.

Contact me to discuss how I can help bring history alive at your event!

"Our events never plod through history when they can dance and sing! We engage Rachel at every opportunity because she brings pizzazz, stage presence, energy and audience engagement. Historical interpretation is not standing by a table mansplaining ‘stuff’. Historical interpretation is bringing characters from history to life, to enable audiences to understand history and find meaning within it. Rachel’s performance as Vesta Tilley epitomised this discipline."
