Boring but important stuff...

If you'd like to book me for a 'Remarkable Women' talk, please consider the following...

You will need to provide these 4 things for me...

       1) A parking space close to the entrance- I will be bringing and carrying heavy boxes. I will

arrive at the venue about 20-30 minutes before the time you wish the talk to begin. Please

       ensure access is available.

      2) A 'Green Room': most venues have a disabled loo - this is perfect.

       3) A table at the front for my props. I'll need space in front of the table in which to  perform.

       4) A glass of water- it's thirsty work!

... And please think about the things below for your audience members:

Room set-up:

Please arrange the seating however you prefer. I don't mind whether your group is sitting in a circle, in rows or around tables, or whether I use the stage or not, if your venue has one.

For singing performances, I will bring my own sound system, which has its own power source. In the unlikely event of this failing, I will need to plug in to a normal electrical socket.

I do not need the use of a projector or screen of any type for any of my talks.

Hearing impairments and microphones:

I have excellent vocal projection and am easily heard. As I am a stage performer, not a pop singer, I need to use both my hands so I never use a handheld microphone because it totally gets in the way.

However, except for my 'Queen Elizabeth the First' talk, wearing a clip-on microphone or clip-on induction loop equipment is absolutely no problem. Just let me know in advance so I can make sure I've got somewhere to clip it!!

  •

  • The exception to all this is the Queen Elizabeth talk. I can't use any type of microphone for that because of getting dressed as part of the talk and demonstration.

  • If you have anyone who would struggle to hear me without a microphone please ensure you position them front and centre in the audience, and tell me who they are (I can't do much about it if people complain they couldn't hear after I've finished!).

Visual impairments:

If the venue size & format permits, I will pass objects around and move around within the audience so people can get a good close-up look.

Payment & Cancellations:

  • Please pay by cheque or cash at the time of the performance.

  • Fees are agreed at the time of booking and rates are clearly set out on this website.

  • I regret to stipulate that late payments will incur an additional daily fee.

  • In the unlikely event that I cancel your booking within 24 hours of the performance I will offer a compensatory rate for an alternative date.

  • If the booker cancels the booking within 24 hours of the performance, please note the booker will be still be charged for the price of the talk, but travel costs will be waived.

  • Cancellations by either party giving a reasonable notice period can be negotiated individually.

And finally... apparently, on her latest tour, Madonna asked her bookers to provide:

"20 international phone lines in the room as well as special white and pink roses that must have the stems cut to six inches" and "a personal chef, acupuncturist and an on-site dry-cleaner."

Me? I'm just grateful for the work.
